These are only suggestions and are provided within a general wedding framework to help you get started in the planning process. As you will notice, some of the pieces fit into more than one category. Prelude

Before the ceremony begins, there can be fifteen to thirty minutes of music while seating guests, lighting candles, rolling out the carpet, and finally seating the grandparents and the mothers of the bridal couple take place.  Music that is graceful and light helps create just the right mood.

Processional

The processional begins after the mother of the bride is seated and the wedding party begins their walk down the aisle. If there are many people in the wedding party, a quiet or more subdued piece may be used as they process in, then a bigger, more celebratory piece accompanies the bride's entrance.

 Ceremony

Music can create and maintain the mood throughout the ceremony reflecting the seriousness of the vows as well as the joy of the event and the excitement of the bride and groom and their family and friends. If your ceremony is being held in a house of worship or other spiritual center, please ask the officiant performing your ceremony if the music you wish to have performed is acceptable. Many officiants have a list of what music is appropriate for each part of the ceremony.

Recessional/Postlude

The big moment! The bride and groom are pronounced husband and wife, have kissed, and turn to walk up the aisle as a married couple. This calls for festive and celebratory music to reflect their excitement and joy as they walk up the aisle together.
